We were asked to name the retail packaging brand for a walnut & almond distributors in California. Building on the parent company’s (Pearl Crop) ocean theme, the name Octonuts and the inherent symbolism of the octopus became a no-brainer for their first foray into a CPG brand. The octopus is a symbol of intelligence, logic, flexibility, potential, and creativity. The Octonuts brand has two sides—walnuts and almonds. We chose a cool color to represent the walnut side because walnut oils are used mainly in cold foods.
